The TVs
- Small TV (Samsung Sero 43") rotates. 3840x2160 sideways, 2160x3840 upright. Turn it by hand (remote button, voice, or the SmartThings app) before showing an upright file.
- Big TV (Samsung Serif 65") 3840x2160, sideways only.
- Both are QLED, not OLED, so a still logo will not burn in.
Google Pixel wallpapers
- Pixel 1080 x 2424, Pixel Pro 1280 x 2856 and Pixel Pro XL 1344 x 2992, upright, from Google's own Pixel 11 specs.
- On the phone, open the file in Google Photos, tap the three dots, then Use as, then Wallpaper.
iPhone wallpapers
- Each iPhone choice saves at that phone's exact screen resolution, upright, from Apple's own specs. One file covers every model listed under it.
- On the phone, open the file in Photos, tap Share, then Use as Wallpaper. Pinch to fit if iOS zooms in.
- Borders on framed looks are scaled down for phones so they stay in proportion.
Computer monitors
- 1080p is 1920x1080, 1440p is 2560x1440 and widescreen is 3440x1440. If you are not sure, check the screen resolution in the computer's display settings.
- Open the file full screen, or set it as the desktop picture with the fit option set to Fill.
Getting files on screen
Media Player over the network. The TV's Photos app browses a media server on the studio computer and shows the image full screen with no Samsung border. Drop a file into the show's folder and it is there. Use Universal Media Server or Serviio, not Plex, which often loses folders on Samsung TVs.
USB stick. Copy one TV's folder onto a stick, plug it into the back of that TV and open the image in the Photos app.
Ambient Mode "My Album". SmartThings phone app only, pulling from that phone's photos. Samsung adds its own border, so our framing sits inside theirs.
Preparing logos
- Ask the client for SVG. It stays sharp at any size.
- Leave clear space around a logo of about a quarter of its height.
- Near-black beats pure black. On these TVs true black shows as a dim grey box.
- Darker, mid-toned art reads as art. Bright white reads as a lit screen.
Background colour names follow Samsung's Art Mode palette. Samsung publishes no colour codes, so these are close matches, not exact.
